A Yummy Day at the Casal Català

On Sunday 2nd of March, the members of the Casal Català de Victoria came together for one of the most flavour-filled events of the year – the Paellas Contest! With five passionate contestants bringing their best to the table, the event turned into a get together with some touches of creativity, plenty of community, and discovery flair.

Each paella was uniquely crafted, offering something special for every taste:

• Pancho’s seafood extravaganza, was packed with shellfish and all kinds of ocean goodness
• Maria’s traditional favourite with chicken and green beans
• Marc and Francesc’s seafood-only medley of tender calamari and juicy prawns
• Albert came up with a quirky and hearty mix of sausages and fried eggs
• And Carla and Lluís prepared a colourful vegan paella, with as many vegetables as you can imagine

Once the cooking was done, it was time to taste! Everyone who attended received a plate with a sample of each paella and cast their vote for the winner. It was a tough decision, but the results were:

 1st Place: MARIA with the traditional chicken and green bean paella
 2nd Place: CARLA and LLUÍS with the vibrant vegan paella
 3rd Place: PANCHO and his shellfish-packed seafood paella

We also want to give a big shoutout to all five contestants who came with amazing energy, loads of enthusiasm, and truly delicious food. Your creativity and motivation made this event so special – thank you!

It was a joy to see familiar faces catching up and new members joining in, including some of the newest (and tiniest!) members of our community. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, conversation, and shared memories – both old and new.

Thank you to everyone who participated, tasted, voted, and helped make the day such a success. Here’s to more events that bring us together – and more paella, of course!
